Empowering Innovation through Product-Service System Thinking

On November 17, 2022, Dian Arsa Inovasi (DARSI) had the opportunity to facilitate a dynamic workshop on Product-Service System (PSS) for SKF Indonesia, a global leader in bearing and rotation technology solutions. The one-day workshop, held at PSW Antasari Hotel, Jakarta, brought together 35 participants from various divisions within SKF to explore innovative approaches in delivering integrated product and service offerings.

A Design Thinking Approach to Co-Creation

To guide participants in rethinking value creation beyond traditional product models, the workshop adopted a Design Thinking methodology. This human-centered, collaborative framework encouraged each group to deeply understand user needs, frame key challenges, and develop innovative solutions aligned with SKF’s capabilities and market direction.

Through hands-on activities, ideation sessions, and guided discussions, participants were challenged to develop concepts that integrated products and services into cohesive value propositions. The process helped spark new perspectives and foster collaboration across different functional backgrounds.

Final Presentations: Innovation in Action

As a culminating activity, each group presented their concepts for a new product-service system that SKF could potentially offer to its customers. These final presentations showcased the creativity, insight, and strategic thinking cultivated during the session. The ideas ranged from smart maintenance services to customer-centric digital platforms—demonstrating how service innovation can enhance product value and customer engagement.

Supporting Transformation with Practical Innovation Tools

This workshop reflects DARSI’s ongoing commitment to supporting companies in their transformation journey by equipping teams with the mindset and tools to innovate meaningfully. With the convergence of technology, data, and user experience shaping the future of business, Product-Service Systems offer a strategic pathway for sustainable growth and differentiation.
