On 29 July 2026, professionals from industry, academia, technology providers, and consulting organizations gathered in Cikarang for the Professional Workshop: Lean 4.0 – From Toyota Production System to Digital Manufacturing. More than a technical workshop, the event marked the official inauguration of Lean 4.0 Community Indonesia, a Community of Practice dedicated to fostering collaboration, knowledge exchange, and innovation in Lean Operations and Industry 4.0.
The workshop was established on the belief that sustainable digital transformation is not driven solely by technology adoption. It requires a collaborative ecosystem where practitioners, researchers, educators, consultants, and technology providers continuously learn from one another, exchange ideas, and co-create innovative solutions to real industrial challenges.
The event featured distinguished speakers who shared complementary perspectives on the future of manufacturing.
Prof. Dr. Koichi Murata (Nihon University, Japan) delivered the keynote session, emphasizing that Lean is far more than a collection of improvement tools. Drawing on decades of research and industrial experience, he demonstrated how Lean philosophy continues to evolve alongside digital manufacturing while remaining firmly rooted in continuous improvement, structured problem solving, and people development.
Mr. Yaser Ali Husen presented practical applications of Digital Overall Equipment Effectiveness (Digital OEE) and immersive technologies, illustrating how real-time operational visibility and data-driven decision making can significantly enhance manufacturing performance and operational excellence.
Mr. Amri Kosim shared valuable insights into Industry 4.0 implementation, highlighting current industrial challenges, organizational readiness, and the strategic alignment required to successfully integrate digital technologies into business operations.
Complementing these technical sessions, Dr. Tanika D. Sofianti introduced the concept of Knowledge Management as a key enabler of Lean 4.0 transformation. Her presentation highlighted the role of Communities of Practice in accelerating digital transformation through many-to-many knowledge exchange, where organizations collectively create, refine, and disseminate knowledge. Rather than relying solely on one-way knowledge transfer, this collaborative approach enables practitioners to share implementation experiences, learn from one another, and co-create innovations that deliver sustainable value.
Beyond the presentations, the workshop provided valuable opportunities for networking, discussion, and collaboration. Participants actively exchanged implementation experiences, explored emerging Industry 4.0 technologies, and established new professional connections—demonstrating the collaborative spirit that forms the foundation of Lean 4.0 Community Indonesia.
